About the Lake City Community Redevelopment Agency Master Plan Update
The update is the first comprehensive master planning efforts undertaken by the Community Redevelopment Agency since it's conseption in 1991 and will be designed to guide the development and redevelopment of the residential neighborhoods, employment centers, and environment systems located within the Community Redevelopment Area.
Through the leadership of Lake City Community Redevelopment Agency, a new vision for the Community Redevelopment Area will be created through this planning effort that will ultimately result in an environment of positive change for the entire Community Redevelopment Area. The intent of the update is to examine the area’s strengths, challenges and opportunities to develop an accurate set of guidelines for pursuing improvements in the residential neighborhoods, corridor commercial and light industrial areas, development/redevelopment of the downtown core, planned infrastructure improvements, mobility enhancements, and improvement of natural resources including the lakefront.
.
To assist with this goal, t he Lake City Council as the Lake City Community Redevelopment Agency has selected IBI Group and their team of subconsultants to prepare the Community Redevelopment Agency Master Plan update. IBI Group will prepare a community-driven study that provides recommendations to stabilize and revitalize the area integrating the realms of transportation, land use and economic development in a seamless manner. The Plan Update is scheduled to be completed in December of 2010.
The Focus Groups workshops for the project were held on June 23rd through June 24th at the City Hall second floor Council Chambers and was a great success. We had 42 participants attending these sessions spread over a period of two days. The IBI Group team facilitated the workshop in a presentation format for the first hour and then opened it up to discussions from the participants during the second hour. The primary purpose of this first workshop was to educate the community on the anticipated planning process for the study, and to share preliminary findings related to demographic and economic trends within the assigned study area. The presentation can be downloaded from the link shown below.
