Darby Pavillion at Wilson Park

In early 2012 the CRA adopted their revised CRA Master Plan, which outlined their redevelopment vision.  As one of the City’s most distinctive yet underutilized cultural, recreational and economic assets, Lake DeSoto was identified as a key community asset.  Plans to transform the Lake DeSoto Waterfront into a destination spot in our downtown were included in the Master Plan.  As a catalyst project an Event Pavilion in Wilson Park went out for bid and ground was broken in the late fall of 2013. The project, which was completed in early spring of 2014, has hosted two community events to showcase the newly constructed facility with the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt held Saturday, April 19th  and the 5th Annual Derby Dash 5K Run/Walk and Car & Truck Show held on Saturday, May 3rd.  

 

The pavilion will also be rented for weddings, receptions and other private events and is expected to quickly become Lake City’s premier downtown event venue.
