Services & Facilities

In 2003, the City teamed up with the Florida Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration to fund and complete the restoration of the aircraft parking apron and taxiway serving the City's Fixed Base Fueling Operations Center. The industrial park adjacent to U.S. 90 East was also improved by completion of an access road and taxiway renovation funded by the Florida Governors Office of Economic Development. The over $1 million in State and Federal improvement funds spent will benefit air traffic and business tenants such as Pre-Flight, Aviation Maintenance, CHC labs, Inc., Trauma One, the Forrestry Service, the Fish and Wildlife Commission and Timco's aircraft maintenance and repair facility.

The City has teamed up with The Federal Aviation Administration and Florida Department of Transportation to fund and complete several projects under its 2003 to 2008 Master Development Plan. The VASI landing guidance system was upgraded to a more usable PAPI (precision approach) system on the main runway. Airport security was improved by the installation of barbed wire around the airport perimeter and four 3,600 sq. ft. aircraft hangars were constructed for twin engine and corporate jet aircraft storage. The State of Florida funded the construction of an access road opening airport property adjacent to U.S. Hwy 90 for use by CHC Labs Inc., and Trauma One Life Flight Helicopters. These companies provide critical health care services to the citizens of North Florida.
