Fire

MISSION STATEMENT
The Lake City Fire Department is dedicated to safe guarding the lives, property and environment of our community through exceptional service in education, preparedness, prevention and response to emergency incidents. An essential function of the department is to provide opportunities for a positive presence in the community. A strong emphasis is placed on connecting the Fire Department and the community together.
HISTORY
Lake City's Fire Department (LCFD) was founded in 1883 by George O. Adicks Sr. It started as a 24 man volunteer department. That department consisted of a bucket brigade and a hand pump wagon. In the 1920s, Lake City bought their first motorized pumper. This truck is still used today in parades and special events. In the 1960s, the Veterans Affairs Hospital purchased the department an elevated platform truck.
To this day, LCFD continues to grow as a well-established, career fire department. Currently, LCFD has three engines, one squad, one ladder, and a new platform aerial truck!
LCFD recently achieved an ISO Class 2 rating—an impressive accomplishment on the ISO scale, which ranges from 1 (best) to 10 (worst). This places us among the top 3% of fire departments nationwide. Previously rated as a Class 4, this marks the first time in our department’s history that we’ve reached such a high rating.
