The City of Lake City is accepting applications for the position of Traffic Signal Technician I, in the Public Works Department.  This position requires skilled work installing and maintaining streetlights and traffic signals, tree trimming, and performing general electrical wiring in the City.  This position reports directly to the Traffic Signal Supervisor.

The ideal candidate performs field and shop repairs on traffic signal and street lighting equipment, maintains, repairs traffic signals, street lights and school zone flashing lights. This candidate responds to emergency calls day or night and will be required to work as on-call technician.  Updates, inspects and installs new traffic signals, trim trees from streetlights and electrical circuits while conducting final inspections on contract work.  Installs span wire, conduit, cable and poles for traffic signals and street lighting, keeps daily work reports.  The ideal candidate will repair electric equipment, electrical wiring in other City owned buildings and assists other crews and departments with bucket trucks.  Installs banners and other decorations for City special events, build and install street signs and responds to emergency after hours, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be a High School Graduate or possess a General Education Diploma (GED) and two (2) years of basic and general electrical experience.  Two (2) years of Traffic Signal experience and one (1) year operating bucket trucks with two (2) years blue print reading.  A valid State Commercial Driver’s License “B” is required.  Must be able to possess an I.M.S.A. Traffic Safety Work Zone, Level I Traffic Signal Technician Certification.
