SALARY RANGE:              $86,186.73 - $141,070.42

 

The City of Lake City is accepting applications for the position of Assistant City Manager. This is administrative and technical management work requiring independent judgment and a high degree of responsibility in assisting the City Manager in performing functions and activities necessary for the effective operation of the City.

 

The position is assigned the responsibility for coordinating and supervising the activities of assigned departments. Work is performed under the general direction of the City Manager who reviews work performance through observation, conferences, reports, and results obtained.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in grant writing, economic development and experience in the operation and management of utility systems to include, natural gas, water/wastewater, and stormwater. The ideal candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; possess strong fiscal management skills; and the ability to foster good intergovernmental relationships and a history of good community relations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful applicant must have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or a field relating to the area of supervision.  Related work experience can substitute on a year for year basis for formal education requirements. (Examples of related work experience are below.)  Applicant must have eight (8) years of experience in fields related to the departments which are supervised by this position.  Applicant must possess a valid Florida driver’s license and successfully complete physical, drug screen and background check.

 

Examples of verifiable, related work experience (This experience list is to provide examples only and is not meant to be exclusionary of other leadership or management functions):

 

- Project Manager experience, preferably in construction.

- Experience leading senior level teams through change management or other improvement processes

- Senior level management experience at a large store or commercial distribution center

- Leadership role in emergency management

 

Successful candidate must be a permanent resident of Columbia County or become a permanent resident no later than the termination date of the probationary period of his/her employment.
