The City of Lake City is accepting applications for the position of Natural Gas Technician I. This position is skilled work related to the City’s natural gas distribution system.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas distribution system and respective components; must be able to maintain minimum qualifications as required by Federal Department of Transportation and Florida Public Service Commission; and have knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and techniques used for the maintenance of existing natural gas distribution system as well as future extensions. The ideal candidate will be skilled in using and operating all standard mechanical tools/power tools/heavy equipment (i.e. ditch witch, tapping machines, locators, back-hoes, excavators etc.); and have the ability to establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant must have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) and a valid Florida drivers license, and have the ability complete Operator Qualification Modules.  Applicant must acquire the Basic MOT within two (2) years and obtain Flagging Certificate within six (6) months. Applicant will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment physical and drug screen.
