Shop with a Cop
Shop with a Cop is an annual grant-funded program sponsored by Walmart. The Lake City Police Department partners with the local school system to identify children who may benefit from extra support or a positive interaction with law enforcement. Selected children are paired with a police officer for a holiday shopping experience at the local Walmart, where they can purchase gifts for themselves and their families.
The event provides an opportunity for officers and youth to spend time together in a positive and supportive environment, helping to build trust and create meaningful connections within the community.
Children who participate are identified by the local school system. The Lake City Police Department does not have an application process and does not select the participating children. Families in need can click here for a list of local resources.

The program also helps keep youth engaged in positive and productive activities during the summer months. By providing meaningful work opportunities, the program encourages personal growth, builds strong work habits, and helps young people develop skills that will benefit them in future careers and educational opportunities.
